Damilola Adegoke | King's College London

Damilola Adegoke, Ph.D.

Head of Data Lab and Chief Data Analyst

Dr Damilola Adegoke is a Research Associate with the African Leadership Centre at King's College London. Damilola has a BA in Philosophy and an M.Sc. in Sociology of Development from the University of Ibadan and an M.Sc. in Security, Leadership and Society from King's College London. He was also a Peace, Security and Development Fellow at the African Leadership Centre, at King's.

Damilola taught Africa in International Relations and Foreign Policy Analysis at the University of Buea in Cameroon. He is an alumnus of the Brown International Advanced Research Institutes, Brown University, USA.

Damilola is the Head and Chief Data Analyst of the Data Lab. He is a steering committee and Board member of the Digital Sociology Group of the International Sociology Association.

 

Ian

Ian Mbugua

Data Lab Associate

Ian Mbugua is a Data Scientist and Machine Learning Engineer specializing in data analysis, statistical modeling, and deep learning. Pursuing a Master’s in Computer Engineering at Vistula University, he leverages tools like Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Tableau, and Power BI to create data-driven solutions and actionable insights.

With expertise in DataOps and cloud platforms, Ian excels at automating workflows and managing scalable infrastructure. At the African Leadership Centre (ALC), he contributed to research projects like the Dalab dataset, statistical evaluations and data visualisations. 

Passionate about NLP, deep learning, and AI, Ian is dedicated to building intelligent systems that address real-world challenges.

 

Aliyyah Sada 

Digital Peacebuilding Associate 

Aliyyah has an LLB and LLM from Universirty of Exeter and BPP Law School in the United Kingdom. Between 2021 and 2023, she was a Research and Legal Program Assistant at Neem Foundation in Abuja, Nigeria. She is currently a Project Coordinator at African Leadership Centre. Her interests include a strong focus on state failure and statehood in Africa with a proven ability at program coordination and relationship management.

 

Safiyyah Abdulsalam Mohammed

Digital Peacebuilding Associate 

Safiyyah has a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Information Technology from Abu Dhabi University. She is an experienced Web Developer with a demonstrated history of working in the IT industry. Skilled in Photography, Microsoft Office, Computer Science, Web Programing, and Public Speaking. She is currently a Senior IT & Admin Lead at NEEM Foundation, Abuja, Nigeria.

 

Mamadou

Mamadou Saliou Diallo

Data Analyst and Lab Associate

A Statistician by training, Mamadou Saliou has a good understanding of geopolitical issues with years of experience both in international development and in banks. Holding a master’s degree in Data Mining ,he brings experience of the evaluation and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data and statistical analysis, including quantifying qualitative information. He is currently a Fellow of the African Leadership Centre’s (ALC) Peace, Security and Development Fellowship Programme for African Scholars in partnership with King’s College London (KCL). His growing interest in Applied Research in development issues led him to use his skills in program impact evaluations and policy analysis during his experience with international humanitarian NGOs and multinational corporations in Morocco, France and in the Netherlands. Saliou aims to pursue his career by doing applied research in the field of security and conflict resolution.

 

Sebastian

Sebastian Wafula Wesonga

Data Support Officer and Lab Associate

Sebastian Wafula Wesonga, is an IT professional with a degree in Computer Technology from Jomo Kenyatta University. He is a data support officer and is an IT Assistant at the African Leadership Centre in Nairobi, where he maintains computer networks, infrastructure, and communication systems. He also enjoys exploring new places.
