Data for peace and security

The ALC Data Lab is a platform dedicated to providing open data analyses, scalable data explorations, and robust data visualisations for security, peacebuilding and development related-themes across the African continent. It is a project borne out of the need for a veritable and reliable data warehouse, with great ease of access for policy-makers, researchers and interested scholars across the African continent. We are harnessing the tools of big data and other cutting-edge digital technologies to provide this access.

Insightful Research Publications

ALC Data Lab provides a series of data-driven research publications focused on peace and security themes relevant to Africa and the global South, offering valuable insights and analysis.

Bibliometric Analysis of Francophone Peace and Security Analysis (1960-2018)

The African Leadership Centre carried out a mapping study on knowledge production on peace and security in Africa from 1960 to 2018. However, one of its shortcomings was findings based solely on Anglophone countries. This initiative builds on this previous work to map knowledge production across three regions: West Africa, Southern Africa and Central Africa with a focus on Lusophone and Francophone countries. ALC Mid-Generation Review Study

This study adopts a social sequence analysis for understanding the life trajectories of fellows’ experiences five (5) years before and after participating in the different fellowships of the African Leadership Centre, King’s College London. It allows a retrospective and prospective sequential life trajectory study approach with transversal and longitudinal capabilities for examining alumni career pathways and emergent characteristics over the years.
